Sophie began working in optics as an optical dispenser in 2017. She graduated as a therapeutically endorsed Optometrist with a Masters in Optometry from Flinders University in 2019. Sophie loves being an Optometrist as she is passionate about providing the best care to all her patients. She has keen interest in managing ocular pathology, managing dry eye patients and speciality contact lenses (in particular, Othokeratology) Sophie loves coming to work each day and getting to know her patients. She believes the most rewarding part of her job is being able to provide the best vision and care for every patient. Whether that be through providing new glasses or picking up an eye condition early so treatment can be started to minimise the effect on a patient’s vision. Sophie is passionate about providing eye-care in developing countries and rural regions of Australia. In 2019 she did a 6 week placement in Kathmandu, Nepal. She hopes to arrange similar volunteering experience in Nepal and other countries in the future. Sophie enjoys keeping active in her spare time with hiking, running, learning to surf and pilates. She also enjoys spending her free time exploring what the Sunshine Coast has to offer and planning her next holiday.
